iCleaner Privacy Policy

At iCleaner, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and handle your information when you use our mobile application ("iCleaner," "the App," "our App") on Android and iOS devices. By using iCleaner, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Quick Summary: iCleaner is designed with privacy-first principles. We do not sell your data to third parties. All cleaning and optimization operations happen locally on your device. Your photos, videos, contacts, and files remain private and are never uploaded to our servers without your explicit consent. We use Google AdMob for advertising in the free version and support in-app purchases through Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you use iCleaner, you may provide certain information directly to us:

  • Account Information: If you create an account (optional), we collect your email address, username, and password (encrypted).
  • Vault Content: Files, photos, videos, and documents you choose to store in the secure vault remain encrypted and stored locally on your device. We do not have access to the contents of your vault.
  • Contact Information: When you use our contact cleanup feature, we temporarily access your contacts list to identify duplicates and merge entries. This data is processed locally and never transmitted to our servers.
  • Support Communications: When you contact us at phone.icleaner@gmail.com, we collect your email address and the content of your message to provide support.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

To improve the App's functionality and user experience, we automatically collect certain information:

  • Device Information: We collect device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, mobile network information, and device language settings.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including features used, cleaning operations performed, storage space recovered, and app performance metrics.
  • Storage Analysis Data: To perform cleaning operations, we analyze your device storage, including file types, sizes, creation dates, and locations. This analysis happens locally on your device.
  • Crash Reports and Diagnostics: We collect crash reports and error logs to identify and fix technical issues. These reports may include device state information at the time of the crash but do not include personal content.
  • Analytics Data: We use analytics tools to understand app usage patterns, popular features, and areas for improvement. This data is aggregated and anonymized.
  • Advertising Data: Google AdMob collects advertising-related data including your device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Google Advertising ID on Android), IP address, and general interest data to serve relevant ads.

1.3 Permissions We Request

iCleaner requests the following permissions to function properly. You can manage these permissions in your device settings:

  • Storage Permission: Required to scan, analyze, and clean junk files, cache, temporary files, and manage media files.
  • Contacts Permission: Required for the contact cleanup feature to identify and merge duplicate contacts. Access is only granted if you use this feature.
  • Photo/Media Permission: Required to identify duplicate photos, compress images/videos, and manage your media library.
  • Email Access (Optional): If you use the email cleaner feature, we request permission to access your email metadata (subject lines, sender information, dates) to help you clean your inbox. We never read the content of your emails.
  • Notification Permission: To send you alerts about storage issues, cleaning recommendations, and app updates.
  • Biometric Permission: For the secure vault feature, we request fingerprint or face recognition permissions to protect your private files.
  • Ad Privacy and SKAdNetwork: Allows Apple and Google to measure ad performance and personalize ads based on your interests.

3.2 Secure Vault

Files stored in the iCleaner vault are encrypted using industry-standard AES-256 encryption. The encryption keys are stored securely on your device and are protected by your device's biometric authentication or PIN code. We do not have access to your vault encryption keys or the contents of your vault.

3.3 Data Transmission Security

When data must be transmitted to our servers (such as crash reports or usage analytics), we use secure HTTPS connections with TLS encryption to protect data in transit.

3.4 Cloud Backup (Optional)

If you choose to enable cloud backup for your vault (premium feature), your encrypted files are uploaded to secure cloud storage. Even in cloud storage, your files remain encrypted with keys only you possess. We cannot decrypt or access your backed-up files.

3.5 Data Retention

  • Usage Data and Analytics: Retained for up to 24 months for analysis and improvement purposes
  • Crash Reports: Retained for up to 12 months to identify and fix recurring issues
  • Account Information: Retained until you delete your account

  • Vault Content: Retained until you delete the files or uninstall the app. Cloud backups are retained according to your subscription settings
  • Ad Performance Data: Retained by Google AdMob per their privacy policies for campaign measurement and optimization

4. In-App Purchases and Billing

4.1 In-App Purchase Information

When you make in-app purchases through iCleaner, the following applies:

  • Payment Processing: In-app purchases are processed through Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). These platforms handle all payment information, including credit card details, which are not transmitted to or stored by iCleaner.
  • Purchase History: Information about your purchases (such as purchase date, amount, and items purchased) is stored on your device and associated with your Apple ID or Google account.
  • Refunds: Refund requests for in-app purchases are handled by Apple and Google according to their respective App Store guidelines and policies. Contact Apple Support or Google Support for refund inquiries.
  • Purchase Records: We may collect non-sensitive purchase metadata (such as purchase type, date, and quantity) for analytics purposes only. This data is aggregated and anonymized for app improvement and does not include payment information.
  • Subscription Management: If you subscribe to premium features, you can manage your subscriptions through:
    • iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions or App Store → Account → Subscriptions
    • Android: Google Play Store → Account → Subscriptions
    • Within the iCleaner app through Settings → Subscription
  • Premium Feature Usage: We track which premium features you use to improve those services and provide personalized recommendations, but do not track the content of your files with premium features.
  • No Storage of Payment Data: We do not store, have access to, or transmit your credit card numbers, banking information, or other sensitive payment details. All payment processing is handled securely by Apple and Google in compliance with PCI DSS standards.
  • Receipt Verification: We may verify receipts with Apple and Google servers to confirm valid purchases and prevent fraud, but this process does not expose your payment information to us.

4.2 App Store Policies

Your use of in-app purchases is also governed by:

5. Advertising and Google AdMob

5.1 AdMob Ads and Data Collection

iCleaner uses Google AdMob to display advertisements in the free version. When you view ads, the following occurs:

  • Ad Serving: Google AdMob displays personalized and non-personalized ads based on your interests and device information.
  • Advertising Identifier (IDFA/Google Advertising ID): We allow Google to use your device's advertising ID to deliver personalized ads, measure ad performance, and prevent fraud.
  • Data Collected by Google: Google collects and processes data including:
    • Device identifiers and IDFA (iOS) / Google Advertising ID (Android)
    • IP address
    • Device type and operating system
    • Browser type and version
    • User interests and browsing behavior
    • App usage patterns
    • General location data (country/region level)
  • Google's Privacy Practices: Google's use of data for advertising is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Ad Settings.
  • Third-Party Ad Networks: AdMob may include ads from third-party ad networks and advertisers. These third parties have their own privacy policies governing how they collect and use data.
  • Ad Tracking: Our use of AdMob does not track your file content, contacts, or vault data. Ad targeting is based on general device information, advertising identifiers, and general usage behavior, not your personal files or sensitive data.
  • No File Content in Ads: Your files, vault content, contacts, or personal data are never used for advertising purposes or shared with advertisers.
  • SKAdNetwork Attribution: We use Apple's SKAdNetwork framework (iOS) to measure ad campaign performance while maintaining privacy. This allows measurement of ad effectiveness without tracking individual user behavior.

5.2 Ad Personalization and User Control

You have full control over ad personalization:

  • Opt Out of Personalized Ads (iOS):
    • Go to Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → turn off "Personalized Ads"
    • You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests
  • Opt Out of Personalized Ads (Android):
    • Go to Settings → Google → Manage Your Google Account → Data & Privacy
    • Scroll to "Ad personalization" and turn it off
    • You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests
  • Reset Your Advertising ID (iOS):
    • Go to Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → Reset Advertising ID
    • This generates a new ID and clears previous targeting information
  • Reset Your Google Advertising ID (Android):
    • Go to Settings → Google → Manage Your Google Account → Data & Privacy
    • Under "Ad personalization," click "Reset advertising ID"
  • Limit Ad Tracking (iOS):
    • Go to Settings → Privacy → Tracking
    • Disable app tracking to limit cross-app tracking for ad targeting
  • Google Ad Settings: Visit https://adssettings.google.com to manage your Google ad preferences and control which topics Google uses to personalize ads.
  • Non-Personalized Ads: If you opt out of personalized ads, you will continue to see ads, but they may be based on general content rather than your interests, potentially be less relevant to you, and possibly be more repetitive.
  • Impact on App: Disabling personalized ads does not affect the core functionality of iCleaner, but may reduce our ad revenue, which helps us maintain free and low-cost premium features.

5.3 Google AdMob Terms and Policies

By using iCleaner with advertisements displayed, you agree to Google's AdMob terms and policies. For more information about Google's advertising practices:

5.4 Premium Ad-Free Experience

By purchasing a premium subscription, you can remove all advertisements from iCleaner. Premium users will not see:

  • Google AdMob banner ads
  • Interstitial advertisements
  • Video advertisements
  • Any third-party promotional content

5.5 Sensitive Categories

We ensure that Google AdMob does not serve ads in the following sensitive categories:

  • Adult content
  • Discriminatory content
  • Dangerous or illegal content
  • Hate speech or violence

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
